Installing fuel injectors soon, anything special I need to know?

I bought some 19lb Ford fuel injectors for my rig. I am going to be installing them. I found some info via the web, but, I want to make sure I do this correctly.

1. Should I or Do I need to put any lubricant on the o-rings of the injectors when I install them.

2. Are they okay to just put them in, dry, and then fire up the rig? Do I need to prime them a little with a small amount of fuel.?

I just want to make sure I don't miss the little things.

Oh, reason for doing this is I have some injectors in there now that I can't find any information on. I bought some blue injectors a long, long, long time ago. Before I realized they went by lbs. and such.

I am not doing this for anything more then a piece of mind that I have the correct injectors in there for my setup.

Just make sure you bleed off the pressure before removing the rail, there will still be some gas in there when you pull the injectors, so have a rag handy to catch it.

Be careful when removing the rail..I used my shop vac to clean out an dirt and such so it didn't fall into the injector holes.

You can use either dish detergent or a dab of oil on your finger. Both will work fine..

I put the injectors in the manifold first than the rail on top. Rock them back and forth until they are completely seated ..Seemed to be easier that way.

No need to prime, it may take a second or two of cranking before the fuel gets there, but it will fire up pretty quickly.. check for leaks and any gas smell. Good luck.

Thanks bro. I will remember to turn off the inertia(?) switch or whatever it is called to that is under the driver's side dash to kill the fuel supply going to the rail.

I prime the pump several times to get the rails pressurized before starting so it doesn't have to crank long before firing. A small amount of motor oil on the o-ring at the manifold definitely helps make removal down the line easier. I use the same approach as jermil on the install: injectors in manifold, rail on injectors, seat everything completely, tighten rail bolts.

Are the blue injectors you had, light or dark blue??
