78/79 box tapping rebuild

Thanks to Jopes for the original useless pics, that boy is only good for one thing..................
BAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!

Seems to turn much easier to the right then left (not sure If I'll care once ram is in??).
Was a PIA to get those plastic ring seals on without stretching them and then get the
control valve back in the housing (since the seals had to be stretched). Tapping was easier
than I thought. Could have ported it too, if I had the time or gumbtion.

Well worth the money for PSM to tap, port, and rebuild a box for $175
(especially when rebuild kit is 35$). I had the kit for free, and even buying the ram,
we are talking approx 100$ to get this cobbled together hydro steer
on this beater (lines and fittings were free also). Anyway, here's the rebuild pics.

2 bolts and sector pops out.

4 more bolts and rack/control valve housing pulls out.
If your box is working and not leaking, you can techniucally tap
box for hydro steer at this point and then just slap it back together.
This is what I should have done (replacing just a couple leaky seals),
instead of messing with control valve seal rings.

O-ring with large plastic ring seal on main "rack" valve.

Control valve and soon to be mutilated plastic seal rings.

Drilling tapped port for pressure to rear side of box.

Fitting mounted.

Need fitting on forward side of box to be below sector upper bearing surface, but above sector "pinion" teeth.

Drilling forward port.

All done an pretty

I already have it (PSC's box/rock logic ram). This is just the first time I did it myself. Tapped my own box, free lines, 80$ surplus ram, no sag pump. Will be interesting............
