95 Bko" e4od to c6 trans swap issues....

I swapped out my e4od for a c6 and am having some issues. The bronco is a 1995 with mass air.. I used a 95 mustang(manual) computer and hooked up the wires per Fireguys instructions (reverse light, neutral safety, tcase) using a B&M floor shifter. Onto the issues.. Any ideas on how to resolve any of these is appreciated..

When in reverse you have to rev it up quite a bit for it to move.. In drive or any forward gears it will not move at all. If you play with the gas a bit and find its sweet spot it will move a little. I was able to back it out of the driveway and after a bit i got it moving forward but after a quick drive around the block (2 minutes tops) the temp was at 210 degrees. The first thing that came to mind was that maybe the lines going into and out of the fluid filter were crossed. I swapped those when it cooled but i still got the same result. The torque converter is brand new and i filled it halfway before i installed it then ran the engine when i added the ATF. Could the fu@#$ing trans be toast already.

Help.

sounds like the seals are not good...among other problems. my old C6 would do that, but once warm, problem wouldn't show up.

Raf if its that bad I think its internal. My vacuum line is held on by its own friction over the nipple. I've noticed when cold or having sat for a while I get a slight hesitation before it wants to put the power to the rear. It goes away quick enough that I doubted it existed until a thread last week about this same subject.

The vacuum modulator will cause very weird shifting problems. If there is a vacuum leak, it will not work. I know on my TH400 I had in the Caddy, it caused all kinds of havok

Also, when I rebuilt my '400, it took a LOT of fluid to get it filled. Way more than seemed reasonable, but once it was within a quart of full it started shifting good. I don't know how it works for the C6, but it's something to look at. Also, are you sire the TC was engaged properly? If I remember, the Ford TC needs to rotate three clicks to engage right...

theres about 14 ot 15 quarts in it.. 12 + whatever it took to fill the longer hoses, filter and new cooler.. the dip stick shows fluid just a nut hair past the fill line..

Bronco Info: 95bronco(dd) 78 bronco trail rig

i would say check the fluid one more time or hell even try and pur some more in if it says its full, when i changed the fluid, and filter on my 78 last year, i filled it up, with what i thought was the same amount that came out. i started he up, put it in reverse to leave the driveway and it rapped up and kinda slammed into gear. Then once i got backed out i figured it just need some time to get fluid everywhere again, well that wasn't it i had to do exactly what you are explaining you are having to do with yours. So since i couldnt see(it was dark) i jsut poured another 1 or 2 quarts in her and one the second one that was it, and problem was solved. good luck man i hope the tranny aint toast.

My C6 uses Dexron III not Type F. I thought all the later C6's used Dexron.

No it wouldnt fry the tranny like that. you may want to drain it though and put the right stuff in it. To me it sounds like the tranny itself is fried

Bronco Info: Sold

Here's some help possibly...

It states in 1976, the C6 used Type F, from 1977-1986, Dexron II
