WHAT THE **** ???
Has anyone read the Sep/Oct 08 issue (#35) of BroncoDriver mag? Did anything in it look familiar? Like virtually ALL the text on p.62? Does anyone notice a couple of similarities between it & this? It's plagiarized practically verbatim!
I don't mind anyone reading or referencing what I post, but STEALING it is another matter entirely!![]() ***EDIT*** Here's the text from that page: |

Wow, that's f*cked up. Definitely won't be buying it any more. I don't think you can sue them, but I bet Joe could since it's his website.

Agreed. One could almost write a multi-volume service manual with all of the information on FSB. But to give no credit or reference to where that information was obtained is plagiarism; they pass the information off as if it's their own compilation or work, and that's a BIG no-no in professional journalism and publishing.

Bronco driver personel is very good people to deal with.
Contact them. Ask them about who wrote it, and raise your concerns. If they agree with you they will correct it.

Maybe they think just because it's a nameless avatar on the internets that they can take what they want. Like we, the overly OCD grammar and correctness nazis wouldn't notice.

I don't have the magazine to compare with so I'll take your word for it, but wow, how very unprofessional of them. You should contact the editor and let them know how upset you are. They should have gotten your pemission, IMO.

i have this program we use for school called safeassign. it scans your paper and relates it to all other students papers and all over the internet. i might be able to scan your thread and put in the article from bronco driver and it will tell me exactly how similar they are (in %)

Yeah, except I had dinner at John's house last time I was in K'ville.
I met him & Tom at the SuperNats/Bronco SuperCel '08.Quote:
I also saw a LOT of similarities between Off-Road Oct.08 (Vol.42 No.10) pp.92-98 and this post, but not NEARLY as much as now. |

I'll put up a scan tonight of the article in question. BD issue came in yesterday but I haven't had the chance to look at it.

That's the thing, I'm pretty sure that most of the stuff in Bronco Driver is contributed for free.

Since you posted it on a free forum I don't think they have to pay him. But they definitely should have referenced where it came from. Makes it even more retarded cause they did it simply because they were too lazy or because they wanted to pass it off as their own. Either way it's crap.
Edit: By the way, I know YOU (Steve83) weren't asking for payment. That was just in reference to the posts about paying what the writer got paid. If a "writer" got paid for it they should be fired.

Whether or not I'm being paid HERE has nothing whatsoever to do with THERE. Broadcast TV is "a free forum" - do the writers, producers, etc. THERE sacrifice all rights once it goes out over the air? Can I copy stuff off TV & then sell it, claiming it as my own work?

damn BD just lost my subscription, thats completely wrong in my book......i seriously would gather as much info as i could and persue your case, but my concern is its not copywrited so its not really copywrite infringment,
its still wrong and they should know better, get an attorney steve and see what you can do about it |
