1990 Bronco SAS Project

Finally getting pictures to everyone. Since finishing the SAS on my 2000 F150 my son wanted to do his 90 Bronco. As you watch our project remember this will only be a street and beach truck.

Looks good, really good. Nice work so far!!!

But, after going this far, you should tell your son to order some coils. TTB coils will be way too stiff for that solid axle. The leverage from the TTB design requires stiffer coils. Your sons Bronco is going to ride like crap with TTB coils. Just though I should give you a heads up. We we did a SAS on a Ranger, we used to TTB lift coils and ran into this issue.

true, except maybe for the deaver ttb coils. I'd bet they are reasonble. If he's looking for beach and street he won't need anything too soft.

Interesting. You planning on going with a low lift sas? If not why rebuild the cross member.

That's are reason for using the TTB Springs, we want it to ride and handle stiff because it a street truck. I have the 79 springs in my 2000 F150 SAS and are to soft for me since i only do street and beach driving. I may switch to his setup once i feel how his Bronco rides.

Reason for removing the orginal crossmember was to make access to the oil pan, since we had to replace the gasket. A lot of work to remove the orginal crossmember but still less work then trying to remove the pan with the member in.

First, I'll have updated picture this weekend. Planning on having the rear in with the jack stands under the rear instead of the frame.

Second, with a total of 7"-8" suspension lift will i have to lengthen the driveshaft? Remember it's street and beach truck.

The fabtec 8" 2wd ttb springs ride like a dream on the road. Flex halfway decent too. I had them for several years on my old bronco.

Five generations with an unlocked door and a loaded burgular alarm.

As for the drive shaft, it will also depend on how far forward you move the axle also. you'll probably have to wait till the axle is in and weight on it to see.

Thanks. We hated it also. I'll have updated pictures Monday, Spring Buckets modified and installed, shocks installed, brakes installed, etc.

Someone could say the same for something we are either A. Throwing against the rocks or B. Throwing it into mud pits.

I will say I am damn jealous of how fawking clean and rust free the undercarrige is! wth man? lol

Itís only way too much work if your not having fun. Besides this is my sonís first Bronco and reading all the SAS Project's on this site got him motivated to do something different in this part of NC.

We bought it from the orginal owner i work with here in NC. Has the typical rear fender well rust but that's it. The best thing is we only paid $1600 with 125k miles.

Some one could say that, but they'd be wrong. Not knocking the build. I think it's a great hobby, and a great father son bonding experience. I'm just saying seems like a waste to put in all that work for the street and beach. I'm sure there's stuff to climb in N.C.

I might be wrong, but I don't think that company makes a 6".
Anyway, several people on this site have run them and seemed pretty happy.
Thats where I got the idea to use them. I think they gave me about 7" lift.

We just like the solid axle look and to have somthing different then everyone else. I'm really glad i'm doing this project with my son since he just jointed the Army, college and working wasn't doing it for him. Once he leaves for boot camp in June i'm going to repair the rust in the rear quarters, remove the spare tire carrier and make a new rear bumper with tire carrier. Will post updated pictures Monday.
